    Det är inte för inget som Toni Morrison vann Nobelpriset i litteratur med denna bok. Visst finns det hemska scener och den lämnar ett avtryck hos dig men på gott och ont. Den är skriven för att öppna ögon, för att röra folk för att ge insikt i vad som faktiskt händer. Nyheter skildrar inte individers verklighet. Det gör Toni Morrison! Med en fantastisk prosa som ger gåshud för att den är så vacker samtidigt som budskapet i sig är något hemskt.

    Boken handlar om ett viktigt ämne och är väl skriven, men jag gillade inte den - den är så hemsk att jag mådde fysiskt dåligt medan jag läste den. Jag tror att det är författarens mening också, att läsaren riktigt känner alla historiens hemskheter, men jag vill inte må dåligt när jag läser fiktion - hemskheter kan man läsa om i nyheterstidningar. Jag skulle absolut inte rekommendera den här boken och kommer aldrig att läsa den igen.

Övrig information

Toni Morrison was awarded the Nobel Prize in Literature in 1993. She was the author of many novels, including The Bluest Eye, Sula, Beloved, Paradise and Love. She received the National Book Critics Circle Award and a Pulitzer Prize for her fiction and was awarded the Presidential Medal of Freedom, Americas highest civilian honour, in 2012 by Barack Obama. Toni Morrison died on 5 August 2019 at the age of eighty-eight.
