Ryu Jeong Hwa was born in Busan, South Korea. She majored in Korean literature at Seoul National University where she was the first woman elected as student body president. After graduating she worked at JoongAng Ilbo as a journalist. She currently works for the broadcasting company JTBC as a reporter and journalist.
