A very knowledgeable and clear book. If you want to understand what the Gospel of Judas is, who wrote it and what its message is intended to convey, this is the book for you! The Gospel of Judas was not intended as a genuine Gospel, but is instead a Sethian criticism against the "Orthodox" theology of Jesus'es blood atonement for the satisfaction of sins. Prof. DeConick explains this, and puts the "Gospel" in a context where the Sethians finally broke with the Orthodoxes of Irenaeus and friends.

Those who are interested in the Gnostic adventure cannot miss The Thirteenth Apostle." Professor Madeleine Scopello, Director of Research at the National Centre of Scientific Research Sorbonne, Paris"
