Georgia Williams murder at the hands of college pal Jamie Reynolds was a crime that shocked the nation: chillingly executed and horrific in its sexual depravity. But when Georgias devastated mother, Lynnette, and father, Steve, questioned the events leading to their daughters death, they discovered it was also entirely preventable. At the time of Georgias disappearance, Steve was ironically a highly-commended murder squad detective serving with West Mercia Police. The same force, Steve and Lynnette discovered, had had Reynolds in its sights for years before Georgias murder, but let him slip their net. Drawing on Steves inside police knowledge, the couple exposed the litany of failures that let Reynolds infiltrate their daughters life, and allowed him to kill. Now, in her powerful and moving memoir, Lynnette tries to get beyond the platitudes of mistakes made and lessons learned to effect real change, and also details the heartbreaking aftermath of a crime that should never have happened.

Övrig information

Lynnette Williams is chair of the Georgia Williams Trust, a charity established in Georgias memory which enables young people to access adventure and the outdoors. She also speaks in schools about violence and extreme pornography. Journalist Robin Eveleigh, who worked on the book with Lynnette Williams, said: This case is by some margin the most heartbreaking Ive covered in over 20 years. Although 2023 marks the tenth anniversary of Georgias murder, Lynnettes account a story of police failure and complacency that should never have needed telling - is more relevant today than ever. Im honoured that Lynnette trusted me to help her share it, and were both grateful to Mardle Books for bringing this important story to light.
